Water bottles are an essential part of any outdoor activity, but the shape and volume are often left to personal preference. Avex concentrated on spout design as an important characteristic for it’s line of water bottles, that offer outdoor enthusiasts and athletes another option to consider.
Avex’s AUTOSPOUT lid offers a unique alternative that provides a few benefits that include a leak-free seal, one handed operation, and protection from dirt and contaminants. The AUTOSPOUT lid is operated by pressing a button that pops open the silicone spout. The spout can be closed to protect if from being exposed when not in use, and eliminates any chance of leaks.
We found operating the Avex 25 oz. water bottle easy to use, and the silicone spout didn’t have any affect on the taste as we drank from it. We liked that the spout folds away to protect it from getting dirt or dust from the trail. We also liked that you never have to touch the spout to open or close it, keeping it very sanitary.
The bottle is made from BPA-free plastic and it features a handle with a built-in carabiner clip that allows it to be attached to a backpack. The bottle is also dishwasher safe and after several washings, the bottle still proved to be leak-free an the silicone spout never seemed to deteriorate or become flimsy.
The 25 oz. bottle we tested was ergonomically designed so it was easy to grip. It’s slim design also allows it to fit into a water bottle carrier on some of our mountain and road bicycles. The plastic handle built into the lid was also very durable and held up well as it bounced around while hanging from a backpack with a carabiner. While we liked the 25 oz. bottle, we would like to see a one-liter size.
