In an effort to raise young people’s awareness in global climate change, 15-year old Parker Liautund will attempt to be the youngest person to ski the North Pole in March 2010.
Liautund, a student at Eton College in Windsor, UK, will attempt to ski the Last Degree to the North Pole from March 31 to April 13. He will be aided by experienced guide Doug Stoup, one of the world’s foremost experts on the North and South Poles. “In this type of environment, you can’t compromise on the gear that you bring,” says Stroup, who has successfully completed 16 of these trips, more than anyone on the planet. Both Liautund and Stroup will be outfitted with apparel made with GE’s eVent waterproof fabrics.
