Detours’ Guppy seat bag is a suitable way to travel for cycling events and warm up rides. The Guppy conveniently attaches under your seat and frees up your jacket from jingly keys and power bars. With a variety of sizes and colors to choose from, you can tailor your trips in a cinch!
The Guppy bag was trouble-free to affix. Detours’ provides a complete attachment system here with Rip straps that fasten the bag to the seat frame underneath, together with bungee-like cords that hook around the post. Perhaps you’ve had seat bags with exposed Velcro straps? No worries here, the Guppy should save your biking shorts for a few seasons of wear and tear in this aspect. There is sufficient amount of give in the bungee cord, and we don’t see a problem here in accommodating a larger bike post.
Although the Guppy bag is under your seat, tucked away from unforgiving sun and summer drizzle, there is further assurance as it is comprised of weather-resistant materials throughout. The Guppy bag is insulated with an interior foam also, a better chance of your keeping your lip balm and chocolate bars intact; more importantly keeping your spare rubber bicycle tube in ship shape.
You may not see your Guppy while you are riding, but motorists will see you. Reflective logo and strips give your Guppy a glisten and shimmer as you ride along the trails in low light conditions.
When you open the Guppy’s large mouth, you will be thankful for the room here. I was able to place my patch kit, a tube and two tire levers inside without a problem. You’ll appreciate, no love the nylon key strap sewn inside the bag, hook line and sinker for your house keys! It was a relief to not have to worry about dropping keys along a muddy trail while I fished around for my patch kit. An added feature would be interior sleeves designed to hold credit cards and identifications; but I still felt confidant my items were safely stored, as the single zipper is very well made and kept all the items from slipping out.
While the bag is also offered in small and large, we chose the medium-sized Guppy bag. A larger Guppy would be ideal for longer bike rides where you would need a map and a lot of goo and I can see a smaller Guppy being perfect for quick trips to a convenient store or work commute.
Expect to invest about $18.00 MSRP for the small Guppy, $20.00 for the medium and $22.00 for the large size. Oh, and the Guppy comes in a sea of colors! Your color choices are orange, pea-green, sky-blue, yellow, black, red and royal blue. Sometimes it’s lovely to take a Detour, once you try Detours’ Guppy seat bag, you will be hooked!
